Gastronomy is making a strong showing at Expo Rural 2024

Buenos Aires, July 2024: The best of gastronomy at the 136th International Livestock, Agriculture, and Industry Exhibition. 

The Rural Expo 2024 has already started, and as noon approaches, you can see the smoke from the grills and smell the aroma of roasted meats, which is a good sign to take a break and eat something delicious. There are several options, so here we tell you everything there is to taste and how much money you need to have in your pocket.  

For those who prefer to eat on the go and continue their journey, the carts Oh, food trucks The food stands scattered throughout the grounds are a good option. A basic hamburger with water or soda costs around $9,000 pesos, and the “super hot dogs” cost $7,000. As a side, potato cones are the most popular choice and cost around $3900. Soft drinks and water are the same price at allExhibition booths: $3,000, while beer starts at $4,700.  

At the food court located across from the 4x4 demonstration track, they serve sandwiches made with slow-roasted, pulled Hereford pork for $8,000. In the same area, you can enjoy a lamb casserole for $13,000 or individual pizzas for $7,000. There are also breaded cutlet options for $7,500. And as every year, Alpi has a stand in front of La Ganaderita, offering combo meals with a pork shoulder sandwich and sweet potato chips for $9,900. 

A new feature at the Expo is Don Marco, the Cordoban company specializing in buffalo farming whose meat has great nutritional properties. At the stand, which is Located on Pabellón Ocre Street, you can try the buffalo burgers for $5,000.  

If you’re looking for a snack while watching a show on Center Stage, you can buy cold cuts at special Expo prices—and you can even take them home. For example, Frigorífico Sersale has put together the “Promo Rural” package, which includes: 1 salami, 1 country cheese, 1 red chorizo, 1 Leberwurst, 1 country bread, and 1 bottle of Vino Patero for $11999. At Cabaña Las Sierras, there’s a Special Promo that includes: 1 thin salami, 1 red salami, 1 piece of cheese, 1 package of olives, 1 bottle of “Vino patero,” and 1 homemade loaf of bread for $12,000.  

Additionally, at the stands of the 15 participating provinces, there is a wide variety of products to taste, such as oils, sweets, pâtés, wines, and more. 

For those who prefer to sit down for a meal, there are also options. At El Central, a designated Historic Landmark, there are three menu options priced at $45,000, $70,000, and $100,000, each featuring three courses and drinks. Options include sweetbreads, scrambled eggs with gramajo, charcoal-grilled chicken breast, goulash with spaetzle, ribeye steak, chorizo steak, and braised lamb. On Barreto’s menu, there’s a 400-gram chorizo steak for $30,000 and options for ribs, kid goat, or suckling pig for $29,000.  

At the Yellow Pavilion, while viewing the best cattle, your best bet is to sit down for a meal at La Pulpería. There, you can enjoy a milanesa with potatoes for $15,000 or a rack of ribs for $26,800. Another option is to visit the traditional Patio Gastronómico, which has moved to the tire repair area to create an exclusive space that’s open during the day and in the evenings for after-hours fun. They serve chorizo steaks with caramelized onions for $12,000 or braised pork shoulder for the same price, along with beers for $4,000. 

This year’s highlight is a new culinary space run by the Petersen brothers, specially set up in the Los Lápices de Juncal courtyard and featuring a Meat Grill Area. This space is hosting Meat Week, also organized by the Petersens, featuring free classes and talks led by experts from various fields for barbecue enthusiasts. Additionally, there’s the Greenhouse, where renowned chefs showcase the magic of their cuisine. There are various options to try, such as: an exquisite pumpkin and cheese soup for $6,000; a Hereford beef tenderloin with potato bread for $15,000; burgers for $5,000; and cold cut platters for $15,000.  

In the late afternoon, the “Patio Cervecero” is ideal for having a drink before heading home.
