La Rural SA measures its carbon footprint for the first time and charts its course to Net Zero 2050

Buenos Aires, March 27, 2026 – La Rural presented the results of its first measurement of Organizational Carbon Footprinta total of 2,456 tons of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e) corresponding to the year 2025, considering Scopes 1, 2, and 3 as defined by the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1.

This process, unprecedented for the company, allowed for the identification and quantification of the environmental impact of the property's operations, establishing a solid baseline on which to design reduction actions and move towards data-driven climate management.

Main measurement results

  • – Electricity consumption (Scope 2) is identified as the main focus within the footprint, reflecting the weight of the property's energy operation.
  • – Secondly, there are direct emissions (Scope 1), mainly associated with HVAC systems.
  • Finally, indirect upstream and downstream value chain emissions (Scope 3) are also part of the analysis, with employee daily commutes highlighted as one of the factors considered.

In parallel, the measurement allowed the company to highlight the actions already implemented in sustainability matters: during 2025, the system La Rural's photovoltaic self-generation—comprising over 1,100 solar panels—prevented the emission of 134 tons of CO₂e, representing the 9% of the property's total energy consumption. This data reaffirms the strategic role of renewable energies within the operation and marks the starting point for expanding that participation.

Beyond diagnosis, this process allowed Clearly identify the main opportunities for improvement, which today guide the company's climate planning. Among the priority axes are:

  • The energy transition, expanding renewable generation and optimizing electricity consumption.
  • The comprehensive waste management generated within the property, advancing towards models of source separation, valorization, and progressive reduction of final disposal.
  • The Transition to lower global warming potential refrigerants in HVAC systems, since current refrigerants represent a significant portion of direct emissions (Scope 1).
  • The development of sustainable mobility programs for employees, promoting public transportation, carpooling, and other lower-emission alternatives.
  • \- The improvement in the environmental data traceability, incorporating collection and continuous monitoring systems.

On the way to Net Zero 2050

Within this framework, La Rural is moving forward with the consolidation of its innovative Climate Strategy 2026–2050 with the strategic objective of achieving Net Zero by 2050. The roadmap defines concrete intermediate goals: one 5% reduction in 2026 and of 30% by 2030, regarding the 2025 baseline.

The presentation of these results marks the beginning of a new stage for La Rural. The company formalizes its long-term commitment to climate action, integrando sustainability as a cross-cutting theme in its management model and value proposition within the events industry. As a next step, La Rural will extend climate management to every event held on the grounds., working alongside each organizer to measure, reduce, and communicate the environmental impact of their events.

The project was developed alongside Zeroma (zeroma.io), a climate-tech startup specializing in Measurement and management of carbon footprint in the event industry, ensuring methodological rigor, alignment with international standards, and a strategic, action-oriented perspective. The alliance between La Rural and Zeroma will allow during each event, climate management is actively communicated to organizers, exhibitors, and attendees, positioning the property as Climate action platform.

With this advance, La Rural reinforces its Leadership as a benchmark exhibition center in Argentina and the region, demonstrating that sustainability is a strategic decision and a continuous process that is built with Data, planning, and commitment.
